Why? Why walk 42km
42Km is a lot - according to my fitbit which I wear 24/7 I walked 69Km for the entire week.
So why walk 42 in one night?
I have two reasons, one selfish and the other thankful.
The selfish reason is I want to see if I can do it - in my personal fitness journey I could have never seen myself where I am now 4 years ago - and now I think - were could I be in anouther 4 years?
The thankful reason I want to do this fundraising is that I am big believer in Karma - I have been very very lucky throughout my life in Love, family, health and career.
I have 5 children of my own and am lucky enough to have never needed to use a service like Ronald McDonald House provides and for that I am thankful.
But I believe in paying forward good furtune, if I can raise money to enable one family to have some semblance of normality whilst going through the hardest thing they will ever face - then it's a worthwhile cause for me to be spending my time and effort on.
Thank any god that you believe in that RMH exists!!, for those of us living outside of the metropolitan area really are thankful that something like this is available, just in case my good luck runs out.
Posters are up around the workplace.
And bombing FaceBook with my link to fundraising site
Up all night - RMH marathon - protein shake for breakfast and calourie counted / weighed lunch using MyFitnessPal.
So training for the 42 km walk has begun - since I don't have a weights vest yet - I used Jelly and wheelbarrow and went for a 2 Km walk (It's a start).
I'll be Up All Night for sick kids
I’m taking part in Up All Night to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia (RMHCWA). Walking in an overnight marathon isn’t going to be easy, but it’s nothing compared to being the parent of a sick child.
Every day, families from across WA come to Perth so that their child can receive emergency medical treatment. Ronald McDonald House is their Home Away From Home during the most difficult time of their lives.
I’m stepping up to show the families at Ronald McDonald House that they aren’t alone.
