I'll be Up All Night for sick kids
As part of a Wesfarmers team, I’ve signed up to do a 42km overnight walk to support Ronald McDonald House WA, starting after dark and ending at dawn… I have never done anything like this before and just to make it even harder, it’s the night after our work Christmas party!!
Sleepless nights are part and parcel of being the parent of a sick child. The marathon distance walk is called ‘Up All Night’. The idea is to raise funds and show that we care about families with sick children, as well as understanding a little bit of what they’re going through when they’re up all night.
Ronald McDonald House keeps families close by providing a home away from home for regional WA families who have a sick child receiving hospital treatment in Perth. In 2017 they provided:
- 13,140 nights of accommodation to 1,087 regional families with a child receiving hospital treatment in Perth
- 178 students on our Learning Program, with 3,308 tutoring sessions completed, because falling ill shouldn’t mean falling behind at school
- 2 hospital Family Rooms, averaging 1,900 visits per day.
My goal is to raise at least $2,000 to help continue their important work, and I'd really appreciate your sponsorship! Donations over $2 are tax deductible of course and while grand gestures will be gratefully accepted, they are most certainly not required as every little helps!
