Thank you to all my friends and colleagues who have sponsored me - the training has started, albeit on a treadmill in the gym due to the horrific weather at the moment!
Start walking at lunchtime this Friday with friends from work and plan to do as much training as possible. Rather than focus on distance at the moment I am trying to get my minutes per KMs down to about 8 min 15 secs consistently - - this means that I train for 30 minutes and have to increase my distance each session - currently I am around the 9 min KM mark so a little bit to go but it is going in the right direction!
There is still the opportunity to sponsor me if you would like to support this fabulous cause - I am happy to walk a night for them :)
I'll be Up All Night for sick kids
I’m taking part in Up All Night to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia (RMHCWA). Walking in an overnight marathon isn’t going to be easy, but it’s nothing compared to being the parent of a sick child.
Every day, families from across WA come to Perth so that their child can receive emergency medical treatment. Ronald McDonald House is their Home Away From Home during the most difficult time of their lives.
Many years ago I spent 4 months in hospital with my children 80kms from home - not a distance you want to travel every day - being able to stay close by, especially when things can turn south so very quickly, was such a blessing.
I’m stepping up to show the families at Ronald McDonald House that they aren’t alone.
